tuning Vertex Omega 150 skimmer | Reef2Reef
I got a used vertex omega 150, setup in 7.5" water level in the sump. Only been 1 wk, I see a lot of "micro bubbles" on top 1/4 of the skimmer body. Any suggestion on how to tune this properly? I played around with the water outlet and also the round part of the pump that control the air tubing. have not been able to get dark skimmate, more tea ...
What sump water level for vertex 150 skimmer? | Reef2Reef
I have an Omega Vertex 150 skimmer that I'm installing in a sump with a water level of 10.6 ". What level are you using to get the best performance from the skimmer? The manual says the level should be 7" to 9.5"and I need your thoughts. I will have to build a stand to elevate the skimmer and would like your opinions. Thanks
CALCIUM REACTORS, WHICH IS BETTER? | Reef2Reef
My vertex reactor came with a pump where the manufacturer had dribbled pvc cement into the pump when they manufactured the proprietary plumbing block. (Pic below) I was a new reefer and couln’t figure out what was wrong until the pump unit burned out and I took it apart. Vertex was happy to charge me $$$ and wait 9 months to replace it.
Best calcium reactor for my tank? | Reef2Reef - REEF2REEF Saltwater and ...
After that it's been running for a year and a half non stop. I've had nothing but good.luck with vertex, I've used their 1.5l zeovit reactor, their larger 3.0 zeovit reactor and their 1L media reactor, so when I reD the eh reviews about the calcium reactor I was surprised.
Why can’t I get the foam height stable in my skimmer??
I had the same problem on a different skimmer. I could never get my Vertex Omega 180i to stay consistent. I ended up unpluggin it and letting it sit in my sump for a few months, then I was going to buy a new skimmer and just for the heck of it I plugged the Vertex skimmer back in and it started working perfectly.
Bubble Magus Curve 5 Skimmer Review | Reef2Reef
The bubble plate is held to the pump using the output nut on the pump itself. The rest of the bubble plate assembly is held together by a single nylon screw that was correctly aligned and threaded. The water level adjustment tube is very well marked (much better than the Vertex) and is very easy to adjust. 4. Function: So far so good.
Best calcium reactor? - Reef2Reef
I really like the Vertex. Build quality is second to none and it’s very easy to get dialed in. The Sicce pump is quiet available almost anywhere should it ever need replaced. I really like the modular design and efficient use of co2. I run reborn in the main chamber, arm’s smallest media in the secondary and remag in the third.

I don't know your sump configuration. I decided to use an old eshopps rs300 on my new build. What I did was find the biggest tank I could to fit in my available space place it right before my mechanical filter portion on a riser.

Hanna Salinity Tester - first impressions | Reef2Reef
The readings were very repeatable - I took 4 readings in my tank and they were all either 35.0 or 35.1 ppt. Comparing to my vertex refractometer, the readings were dead on. At least I think they were - the consistent problem I have with the refractometer is it's really hard to get more than 0.5 ppt accuracy, and the crispness of the line really ...
